This year one of our events for the SA History Festival was a tour of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. These tours were led by some of our wonderful volunteers, all former nurses that worked in the hospital. It was wonderful to hear their stories, and get a glimpse into what it was like to work in the hospital.
Now that the tour is over I thought I would share this video slideshow featuring photographs from the Hospital in the 1950s and 60s. The photos mostly show views inside the general hospital building not long after it had opened in 1959.
Those that came on the tour might recognise some of the areas shown – particularly the photographs of the old wards.
