The substance is also known as Kwan Loong medicated Oil & Embrocation. The instructional leaflet describes it as: 'the gratifying results of an eminent physician who has made a life study of Occidental and Oriental medicines. After many years of patient research he has succeeded in supplying a long felt want and KWAN LOONG medicated Oil & Embrocation is all that he claims it to be. There is no similar oil or embrocation that will equal KWAN LOONG Medicated Oil & Embrocation for all external ailments and as a first aid in emergencies. It is an unfailing preventive against influenza and other contagious diseases. Miners, planters, tourists, businessmen and athletes will find it handy and indispensable.'
'Directions (For external Use Only) External Complaints:- for sprains, rheumatism, chest complaints, etc., give the effected part a hot fomentation with a soft towel and after drying apply the embrocation by hard rubbing. For sores bruises cuts, etc., apply a drop or two of the oil on a piece of cotton wool and put this on the wound. for tooth-aches apply a drop on a piece of cotton wool and stuff the cavity. For fainting fits, apply on chest, back and temple.'
