From left:
V.F. Turner; Unknown; Elinor Jew; Unknown; Unknown; Janet Day and an unknown nurse who didn't finish her training.
In this photograph V.F. Turner is wearing a floral dress under her apron and would have been labelled a 'Black Pro'. New trainees were allowed to wear any dress for the first 3 months, during which time they attended Preliminary Training School and worked in the wards. At the end of 3 months they had to decide if they wished to continue training and sign a contract. Those who continued could then wear their 'pinks' - the pink dress uniform.
