The CALHN Health Museum would like to acknowledge the work and dedication of volunteers. Volunteers play a fundamental role in our community. Be is fundraising, emotional support, or helping out a sports team. Throughout National Volunteers Week they are celebrated for their contributions to the community.
National Volunteers Week is celebrated nationally acknowledging the work and dedication of volunteers. This year National Volunteers Week 2026 ran from 18th to 24th May.
On Wednesday 20th May, CALHN along with the Volunteer Services Unit hosted their annual Volunteers Recognition Luncheon. This years event was held in the Magarey Room at Adelaide Oval. It played host to volunteers throughout CALHN including RAH, TQEH, Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre and Glenside. It was an opportunity to thank the volunteers for their time, dedication, effort and passion.

CALHN Health Museum Volunteers Awards and Milestones
Volunteer Distinguished Service Award – Kathy Riddell

Kathy has been a valued member of the CALHN Health Museum team for 14 years. She has gone above and beyond that of a volunteer, often working at home on ideas and projects to improve the museum. Known as a “Jack of all trades” she comes up with ideas and solutions that others would not have thought of. She is also a problem solver and often solves issue that many of us would find too difficult. Her tireless efforts were recognised by CALHN and the Volunteer unit at the annual Volunteers Recognition Luncheon. Kathy was presented with a framed certificate and glass award by Health Minister Blair Boyer and Lisa Poon (Director Finance and Business Services, CALHN).
Congratulations Kathy on your award, very much deserved.
10 Years
Chris Russell

Since 2016 Chris had been a celebrated member of the CALHN health Museum Team. Having worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for many decades her knowledge of the site is invaluable. Her dedication and passion for the history of TQEH has seen her accession and care for many of our objects. With a history in Renal nursing she has an overwhelming knowledge on renal and dialysis material.
Chris has been an integeral part of the Queen Elizabeth team not only during her time with the Museum and the heritage committee but also as a former staff member. It is a testament of her kind nature and dedication that even today she is often recognised throughout the hospital by staff. They remember her work ethic and attitude during her working life. We are privileged to have her on our team.
