Hello, History Festival 2025

This week marks the beginning of South Australia’s History Festival. The festival runs through the whole month of May, with this year’s theme being ‘decisions’.

The CALHN Health Museum will be offering a range of events throughout the month, scattered over its multiple sites.

Tour – Exploring the Infectious Diseases Hospital

Explore Hampstead Rehabilitation Centres abandoned buildings, usually off-limits to the public. See what life was like was like in an infectious diseases hospital as you explore the mortuary, old kitchen and gatehouse. The Tour concludes at the CALHN Health Museums featuring an exhibition on Nursing – Heroes DO wear capes

Talk- From Ships to Silveracre: Simpson Family and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Join us for a fascinating talk about Jessie Connor (neé Simpson), her family, and the decisions that shaped their legacy. From Capt. Henry Simpson’s 1836 arrival in SA to the Black Diamond Shipping line and Silveracre estate – now home to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. See history brought to life!

Exhibition – Nursing: Heroes DO Wear Capes

Discover the extraordinary impact nurses have made at Royal Adelaide Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre.
