CALHN Health Museum Christmas Festivities 2024

Take a look at how the CALHN Health Museum celebrates Christmas

The Christmas festivities at the Health Museum this year began with the installation of our submission for the annual CALHN-wide Christmas decoration competition. It was all hands on deck with both volunteers and staff part of the planning and installation process.  Unfortunately, we missed the top spot but received a commendation. What will our theme be next year?!

George wishing visitors a Merry Christmas

Last week the CALHN Health Museum staff and volunteers went on the year’s final educational excursion to St Johns SA Ambulance Museum and Research Centre. This was followed up by the museums annual Christmas lunch.

Although this is not the first time the group has visited the St Johns Ambulance Museum, it is the first time since the museum relocated to its new home in Brighton. The group was shown a brief introductory video on the history of St Johns Ambulance before exploring the museum. Some highlight items included the 1949 BSA motorcycle and side-car, uniform display and old communication devices. The museum is thoughtfully laid out with a flow between the different displays and the St Johns volunteers were very helpful and informative.

From the St Johns Ambulance Museum, the group took a short stroll across the road to their next destination, Charlies Diner. It was here that the festivities ramped up as everyone had gathered to celebrate the year that was at the CALHN Health Museum. The lunch featured a Christmas card exchange and the always-fun Secret Santa swap.

Happy Holidays and a big thank you to all who have contributed to the CALHN Health Museum in any capacity in 2024!
