Queen’s Jubilee – Our Royal Moment

In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee, we share with you our moment in the presence of royalty.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital was granted its name by special proclamation when the Queen, who was visiting South Australia, opened State Parliament on 23rd March 1954.

A duplicate of the proclamation. The original is signed by Her Majesty and Lyell McEwin, former Minister of Health. CALHN Health Museum.

On the 21st February 1963, in an unscheduled visit, Her Majesty met with patients at the hospital. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the only South Australian hospital to be visited by Queen Elizabeth II. Please enjoy these photographs from our collection.
